Development and Innovation Capacity in Brazil

The Brazil Brown Bag Seminar Series invites you to its discussion titled, “Development and Innovation Capacity in Brazil” with Pedro Cavalcante, PhD at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA).


Grounded on the public sector innovation (PSI) theoretical framework, management and State capacity literature, the research explores how innovation occurs and has spread in the Brazilian government. The inquiry, based on empirical cases, investigates the relationship between policy innovation, international management trends and governments’ priorities over the last two decades in the federal level.

 

Pedro Cavalcante has a PhD degree in Political Science (University of Brasilia – UnB) and is currently a Professor in the master program of Public Administration at the University of Brasília and at the National School of Public Administration (Enap). Since 2004, he has worked in the governmental career of Policy Manager, and currently works at the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA). Previously, he held positions as coordinator and director in various federal agencies.
