The Brazil Research Seminar Series invites you to its discussion titled,“Experimenting on the Poor? The Politics of Poverty Knowledge in Brazil and in Mexico” with Luciana de Souza Leão, PhD candidate, Sociology Department, Columbia University.

Luciana de Souza Leão is a PhD Candidate in Sociology and a Paul Lazarsfeld Fellow at Columbia University. Luciana is a political and comparative-historical sociologist with broad interests in knowledge-making processes, social policies and the state.  Her work has been published in the American Economic Journal, Historical Social Research, the International Journal of Sociology, among others. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the Pontificia Universidade Católica from Rio de Janeiro, as well as a M.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
