Exploring Latin America and the Caribbean in NYC Museums: A presentation and workshop

April 14, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The K-12 Outreach Program at the Institute of Latin American Studies at Columbia University invites you to the launch of the resource guide: Exploring Latin America & the Caribbean in NYC Museums, by Teachers College, Columbia University alumni Pilar Riofrio and Lina Alfonso.

Exploring Latin America & the Caribbean in New York City Museums will serve as a resource for K-12 teachers to encourage and facilitate the use of museums in New York City to include Latin American history and culture in the classroom. Museums featured in the guide include the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Brooklyn Museum; the Hispanic Society; the Museum of Modern Art; and El Museo del Barrio.

On April 14th, join the authors for an introduction to this resource, a hands on activity, and informal conversations between school teachers and museum educators.

Limited copies of the guide will be available at the event and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the authors at lma2164@tc.columbia.edu or mr3323@tc.columbia.edu. Please visit the Facebook page for additional registration information: https://www.facebook.com/events/1586065448378143/
