The Latin American Student Association (LASA) at SIPA invites you to join them for a discussion with Maximiliano Sahonero, born and raised in the informal settlement of Villa Lugano, and current Congressman for the City of Buenos Aires, representing the incumbent PRO coalition of the government.

In this discussion we will talk about:

  • The promulgation of the law to urbanize Villa 20, that contemplates the construction of 1600 households and the provision of basic public services
  • The challenges of the urbanization of informal settlements in the City of Buenos Aires
  • His vision for the future, from aspirations to achievements within informal settlements

Speaker Bio:

Maximiliano was born in Villa 20, Lugano. He began his career as a politician since his early years, working actively in his neighborhood. In the year 2008 he started working with Maria Eugenia Vidal, current Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, while she was Minister of Social Development for the City of Buenos Aires. Since then, he has occupied several political positions: President of the Unit of Special Projects for cultural changes, Director for the Vice President of Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires and President for the youth of political party PRO.

As a Congressman for the City of Buenos Aires, he has assumed the responsibility to work together with the people of Villa 20 to urbanize and improve the quality of life of his neighborhood.
