Lemann Dialogues 2019 Bridging Scholarship and Action – Day 2

November 15 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

We are pleased to announce the 2019 Lemann Dialogues Conference (Bridging Scholarship and Action), which will be hosted by Columbia University in New York City on November 14th and 15th.
The Lemann Dialogues are annual conferences on Brazil collaboratively organized between four universities with endowments made possible through the Lemann Foundation (Columbia University, Harvard University, the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, and Stanford University).

For the 2019 Lemann Dialogue, the overarching theme is evidence-based policy-making, its importance, and its challenges.  The conference aims to highlight academic research and its value for addressing public policy needs and social challenges in Brazil. Through an exploration of three main themes (diversity/inclusion; education; and public safety) from a diverse group of scholars, decision-makers, and practitioners, participants will substantively engage with the overall conference theme while deepening our understanding of the specific challenges, opportunities, and innovations in vital areas of public policy for Brazil’s sustainable and equitable development.

Attached is a preliminary agenda for the conference.
