Mexican Mondays w/ Jessica de Alba-Ulloa

The Center for Mexican Studies is pleased to invite you the first Mexican Monday of the semester. Professor Jessica de Alba-Ulloa will deliver the lecture “North America: Realism, Rationalism and Constructivism for Integration.” Refreshments will follow.

How was the world order restructured after the Cold War? This conference will focus on how the relationship between Mexico, Canada, and the United States was refashioned during this period. It will examine the role played by ideas and discourse as well as concrete interests, analyzing closely the role that security played in generating regional cooperation.

Jessica de Alba-Ulloa is a Professor at the School of Global Studies at Universidad Anáhuac México since 2004. She has also taught at the Université de Paris –XI, Faculté Jean Monnet (2000-2003), and the Centre d’Analyse des Différends et leurs Modes de Solution (CADMOS). She is an associate of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (COMEXI); a member of the Mexican Association of International Studies (AMEI), in charge of the Foreign Policy Committee; the International Studies Association (ISA), of which she is co-editor on the Section of International Organizations of the Compendium Project, since 2014; and of the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) and of the American Society of Mexico (AMSOC). Jessica got her BA in International Relations by the Universidad de las Américas (Mexico), a Master’s degree on Diplomacy and International Organizations, and a PhD on Political Sciences by the University of Paris XI, France.

Mexican Mondays is a lecture series hosted by the Center for Mexican Studies at Columbia University that brings leading scholars, journalists, artists, and public figures to Columbia for seminar-style discussion from which “Greater Mexico” can be studied, thought, imagined, and projected into the world.
