Brazilian Black Consciousness Abroad: Conference & Concerts

November 2, 2023
1:00 PM - 8:00 PM
America/New_York
Teachers College Columbia University, 525 W. 120 St., New York, NY 10027

The conference is a joint initiative of the Kilomba Collective, the Consulate General of Brazil in the United States, and the Institute for Latin American Studies (ILAS) and the Lemann Center at Columbia University. It aims to create an annual space for crucial discussions on racial relations in migratory contexts, with a particular focus on the perspective of migratory and transnational experiences between Brazil and the United States. This event is timely as it coincides with the Black Consciousness Month in Brazil and responds to the demands of the organized Brazilian immigrant civil society for more reflections and academic studies on racial issues in this context.
