The Remarkable Reefs of Cuba: Hopeful Stories and Recommendations

Cuba has some of the best-preserved coral reefs in the world, including the Gardens of the Queen. Its waters are also home to highly varied marine life including more sharks and manatees than in the waters off Florida. Environmental cooperation between Cuba and the US has a long history and during the Obama administration, a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed by the two countries including several that focused on cooperation, particularly with respect to shared environmental problems. These MOUs provide the two countries with opportunities to cooperate for their mutual benefit.  David Guggenheim, President of Ocean Doctor, will share the results of over twenty years of research in Cuba including extensive photography. “
