The Brazilian Black Consciousness Abroad Colloquium welcomes philosopher and writer Djamila Ribeiro for the keynote lecture “Between ‘Where We Stand’ and ‘Amefricanity’: Intellectual Strategies of Black Resistance and Re-existence in Brazil and the African Diaspora.”

The event proposes a dialogue on the intellectual strategies of Black resistance in Brazil and across the African Diaspora, engaging with concepts such as Place of Speech and Amefricanity (Lélia Gonzalez) as ways of knowledge production and identity affirmation within colonial contexts.

A discussion will follow with professors Tassiana Oliveira and Priscila Santana, who will expand on the themes presented by the keynote speaker.

Simultaneous Portuguese–English interpretation will be provided.
