Brazil Seminar: Conservation and Environmental Policy in Brazil
Speaker: Jose Maria da Silva, Professor and Chair of Geography and Sustainable Development, University of Miami, and Former Executive Vice President, Conservation International
Date and time: March 29th, 6:10 pm
International Affairs Building, Room IAB 405A
Brazil Seminar is a practicum designed to discuss contemporary Brazil's major economic, political, and social problems with leading analysts, activists, business leaders, and public figures. The seminar is unusual in its reliance upon a stream of outside speakers rather than on a fixed syllabus and set of lectures by the instructor only. Former participants include cabinet members, senior representatives of international organizations, academics, civil society activists, and other world-class experts.
We will primarily focus on economic and financial issues while addressing social and political factors during the spring term. We also prioritize a practitioner’s perspective, using Brazil as a reference to discuss challenges that developing nations face in their development path.
This event will be live-streamed on the ILAS Youtube page.
