The Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) and the Santiago Center will host a webinar the day after Chile's May 16 Constitutional Convention election. Following the October 2020 plebiscite, where 78% of voters approved the writing of a new national charter, Chilean citizens will select those in charge of drafting a new democratic constitution in a process ignited by popular demands that brought the country to the streets in 2019.

Presenters will include:

  • Katya Araujo, Faculty Member at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IDEA), Universidad de Santiago
  • Loreto Cox, Assistant Professor at the School of Government, Universidad Católica
  • Juan Pablo Luna, Associate Professor at the School of Government and the Political Science Institute, Universidad Católica

The event is to be moderated by Vicky Murillo, Director of ILAS and Professor in the Department of Political Science and the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Register here
