Mafalda Beyond the Comic: Cinema and Research for a Globalized Audience
Mafalda, the mischievous girl who satirized the Cold War world more wittingly than her age and background, has clearly transcended the comic medium and her time in history. Mafalda can be found in the language of cinema, historical writings, and in the streets of Buenos Aires, which remind the world that her legacy is omnipresent. In this event, Filmmaker Julián Troksberg and Universidad de San Martín/CONICET Historian Isabella Cosse will venture in a conversation with ILAS Director Vicky Murillo to discuss how the character as a girl, her still relevant critiques, and her perennial humor made their way to a collaboration between movies and academic research.
PRESENTERS:
Julián Troksberg - Film Director and Writer
Isabella Cosse - Professor and Researcher, Universidad Nacional de San Martín/CONICET
Moderated by Vicky Murillo, ILAS Director, Columbia University
